Available with either of the General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] trucks (and with any cab and bed combination), Callaway’s Supercharged SportTruck package will offer more than 540 horsepower in some guises, finally giving owners the performance they need to outrun Ford’s impressive F-150 SVT Raptor range.
Callaway’s engineers have only just got their hands on the trucks, so the final figures are yet to be confirmed. However, they are confident models equipped with a 5.3-liter engine will exceed 450 horsepower and models equipped with a 6.2-liter engine will exceed the aforementioned 540-horsepower figure.
At the heart of the package is a new supercharger, though Callaway also tweaks other areas of the powertrain. Development, testing and validation will be conducted over the next few months, with the Supercharged SportTruck package set to be available before the year is out.
Further down the track, Callaway plans more modifications in the areas of wheels, tires, suspension and brakes. The company may also launch upgrades for the body and interior of the trucks.
Note, GM is also considering its own F-150 SVT Raptor rival, though the automaker hasn’t hinted that such a truck was due anytime soon.
